Good afternoon Dolphin Families, This is Principal Harley with a few updates as we head into another exciting week at Coker-Wimberly Elementary! First, Happy Mother’s Day to all of our incredible Dolphin moms and mother figures! We celebrate and appreciate you for all the love, care, and support you give our scholars each day. We’ve had another fantastic week of teaching and learning, and our teachers and staff felt truly appreciated during Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank you to all of our families for your thoughtful gifts and kind gestures—and a special thank you to our amazing PTO for helping make the week so special. Together, we can do amazing things! We’re currently working on making the Sneaker Ball photos available to families and will share access information as soon as it's ready. In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Week (May 12–16), we will be sharing a daily mental health message during our morning announcements to promote positivity and well-being across our school. Also this week, we’re thrilled to welcome the Seniors of North Edgecombe High School for their Senior Walk. This special event will be followed by our 3rd–5th grade EOG Pep Rally as we encourage and motivate our scholars to do their best! Please join us on Tuesday for our PTO meeting at 5:30 PM, followed by our Family EOG Review Night at 6:00 PM. We strongly encourage all 3rd–5th grade families to attend for helpful test-taking strategies and fun EOG prep activities! We’re looking forward to our Dolphin Field Day this Friday, May 16th—and the weather is looking great! Families are welcome to join us for the fun: PreK–2nd Grade: 8:15 AM – 11:15 AM 3rd–5th Grade: 11:45 AM – 2:45 PM Looking ahead, EOG testing for grades 3–5 begins May 21st. Please make sure your child is at school every day and on time—we want to maximize every instructional minute to ensure they’re fully prepared for their big performance! Our End-of-Year Awards Ceremonies will be held on the following dates: Pre-K: May 28th K–4th Grades: May 29th at 1:30 PM 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony: May 30th More details will be coming home this week, so stay tuned! As always, attendance is critical. Please make sure your scholar is at school every day, on time, with zero tardies and no early sign-outs. Every minute counts! Our Dolphin families were dressed to impress, and the energy was glowing all around. Congratulations to all of our scholars who participated in the fundraiser, our Sneaker Ball Court, and a special shoutout to our Little Mr. and Miss Coker-Wimberly! Don’t forget to share your photos using the hashtag #CokerWimberlySneakerBall2025 so we can celebrate the memories together. A huge thank you to our amazing PTO for organizing such a magical event! Let’s keep the positive energy going as we shine all the way to the EOGs! This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and our theme is Treasures Under the Sea! We encourage all families and scholars to join the fun and help celebrate our incredible teachers: Monday – Blue Day: Show your Dolphin spirit! Wear blue and bring your teacher something blue. Tuesday – Orange Day: Wear orange and bring something orange. Wednesday – Wacky Tacky Day: Dress in your wackiest outfit and wear your favorite beach-themed shirt. Thursday – Green Day: Wear something green and bring your teacher something green. Friday – Favorite Color Day: Wear your teacher’s favorite color and bring them a gift in that color. The next few weeks are full of important teaching, learning, and assessments for all grade levels. Please make sure your scholar is at school every day and on time. End-of-Grade (EOG) Testing for grades 3–5 begins on May 21st. Field Day will be held on Friday, May 16th. Families are welcome to attend! PK–2 Field Day: 8:15 AM – 11:15 AM 3rd–5th Grade Field Day: 11:45 AM – 2:45 PM All scholars have been assigned a team and can purchase a Field Day T-shirt. Buenas tardes, Familias Dolphin: ¡Tenemos algunos recordatorios importantes sobre nuestro próximo Sneaker Ball! Cada estudiante puede traer hasta dos adultos responsables, para un total de dos personas por estudiante. Las familias con dos o más estudiantes pueden traer hasta tres adultos responsables en total. Todos los adultos deben tener 18 años o más, y solo se permitirá la entrada a estudiantes de Coker-Wimberly — no se permitirán bebés, estudiantes de escuela intermedia ni de secundaria. Good evening Dolphin Families, We have a few additional reminders for our upcoming Sneaker Ball! Each student may bring up to two adult caregivers, for a total of two people per student. Families with two or more students may bring up to three adult caregivers total. All adults must be 18 years or older, and only Coker-Wimberly students are allowed to attend — no infants, middle, or high school students will be permitted. As a reminder, all students must follow the ECPS dress code policy, and we are asking all adult guests to wear semi-formal or business casual attire (no jeans, please). We’re looking forward to a fun, dressy evening to celebrate our scholars in style!

¡Familias de los Delfines! ¡Nos complace anunciar que el Día de Campo 2025 se celebrará el viernes 16 de mayo! Este es uno de nuestros eventos anuales favoritos, y esperamos disfrutar de un día lleno de diversión, trabajo en equipo y espíritu escolar. Familias, están cordialmente invitadas a asistir a este gran día. Sin embargo, si tenemos que trasladar el evento al interior debido al mal tiempo, no podremos acomodar a las familias. Cada estudiante tendrá la oportunidad de comprar una camiseta del Día de Campo para usar durante el evento. Dolphin Families! We’re excited to announce that Field Day 2025 is coming up on Friday, May 16th! This is one of our favorite annual events, and we’re looking forward to a day filled with fun, teamwork, and school spirit. Families, you are welcome to attend this great day. However, if we have to move the event indoors due to inclement weather, we will not be able to accommodate families. Each student will have the opportunity to purchase a Field Day T-shirt to wear during the event. These shirts will represent each student’s Field Day Team, so we encourage everyone to participate! Come and show your team spirit by representing your child’s team color! 🔹 T-Shirts are $11.00 per student 🔹 All money is due by Wednesday, May 8th

Thanks to your support, our fundraiser was a success! If your scholar did not participate in the fundraiser, there’s still time to reserve their spot by paying the $25 fee before Friday, May 2nd. Good evening, families! This is Principal Harley with your weekly updates. Welcome back! We hope you had a relaxing and joyful Spring Break. As we return, we are excited to finish the year strong — we have just 27 school days left! Our 3rd–5th grade End-of-Grade (EOG) testing is right around the corner, beginning in about three weeks. It is crucial that students are present every day and avoid tardies and early sign-outs to make the most of these final weeks. This week, our 4th graders are headed to Asheboro to visit the North Carolina Zoo — we know they are going to have a fantastic time! Also, the moment we’ve been waiting for is almost here — our Sneaker Ball is happening this Saturday, May 3rd, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Edgecombe Community College! Please remember: Only Coker-Wimberly students may attend (no infants, middle schoolers, or high school students). All parents or caregivers must be 18 years or older. Dress to impress! Students should wear dressy or semi-formal attire — no t-shirts, shorts, jeans, or jogging suits. Dresses, skirts, and shorts must be at least mid-thigh length, and clothing must not expose the midriff or be overly tight. Parents are asked to wear business casual attire to help maintain the event’s stylish and school-appropriate atmosphere. Staff will be checking attire at the entrance to ensure all guests meet the dress code. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us create a safe, fun, and memorable evening for our Dolphins and their families! We can’t wait to welcome our Dolphins back to school tomorrow.
